As an avid foodie (and closet glutton), I’m constantly looking for new places to check out. Whether it’s a quick pre-movie bite or a lazy Sunday brunch, there’s nary a moment when I’m not craving for something new and delicious. What’s more, the fact that almost everything is within reach, thanks to our expanding transport system, leaves me itching to explore.
But the question, as always, is just what’s out there on our sunny island that we haven’t tried, food wise?
Enter CafeSG, an initiative by BigSpoon (a self-proclaimed mobile application cum personal waiter) that maps out all the cafes in Singapore. From established eateries to up and coming ventures, you can say that CafeSG leaves no stone unturned when it comes to locating a potential brunch or dinner spot! 😉
To find a cafe, all you need to do is enter its name in the search bar – and voila! Easy as ABC. 😀 Or if you’re in the mood for something new, try mousing over the little blue icons marked with a “C” – that’s where a cafe is located – and see what’s in store for you. 😉
Cafes are sorted according to their location, making it easy for you to pick a place depending on where you are or headed to. Once you’ve made your choice, CafeSG lists its address, opening hours and website (or what I like to call the Holy Trinity of Foodie Information :P). All of which can be accessed with a mere click of a button.
Personally, I love how this nifty website puts all the vital information right at your finger tips, which takes away the hassle of having to trawl through the search engines every time I want to check something out. The map is detailed yet simple to navigate, which is great news if you, like me, have an unavoidable tendency to get lost in new neighbourhoods.
What’s more, it even shows you whatever alternatives are nearby, should the cafe of your choice be closed, or not suited to your preference. How cool is that? 😛
And if you’re a cafe owner with a business that’s off the grid for some reason, you can always submit yours for review – just hit the green “Add Cafe” button at the top, fill up the form and you’re good to go! 😉 You can even check out where most of your competitors are located.
Whether you’re an adventurous foodie or a business owner, CafeSG is one useful map to look to. It would be awesome if you could use it to plan your cafe hopping ventures in the future, or something cool like that. As for me, I’ve already bookmarked a few places to check out.
Thanks to Jay for recommending! 😉
