Whether you’re an ardent fan of animation or a casual viewer, the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka is an attraction that can’t be missed if you’re visiting Tokyo.
Unlike most attractions, though, it isn’t a place you can simply stroll in when the mood takes you. Admission is strictly by advanced booking at certain times before your desired date and time.

I’ve always wanted to visit an onsen during my Japan trips, but never got the chance to. So when Yunomori Onsen opened in Kallang Wave Mall late last year, I decided to wait till the crowd had died down before going.
For the uninitiated, an onsen is a Japanese hot spring with bathing facilities attached. Commonly associated with Japanese culture, its rustic, simplistic charm is a hit with tourists.
Since many of my friends asked about my experience (after seeing the many snaps from my Instagram stories), I thought I would share about my day at Yunomori – including how to get the most out of your visit!
If there’s one dish you can’t leave Medan without trying at least once, it’s bihun bebek – rice vermicelli topped with chunks of tender duck meat and usually served with a bowl of broth on the side.
During our year-end trip, we had the privilege of having that delectable bowl of noodles for breakfast not once, but twice (on separate days, of course – though I dare say you could go for double portions if you were particularly ravenous) – at two well-known, yet vastly different places: Bihun Bebek Kumango and Bihun Bebek Akien.

When it comes to specialty coffee in Medan, two cafes come to mind; The Thirty Six Coffee by Wahana Hospitality is one of them. Located along Jalan Multatuli, it is home not only to a sprawling bungalow-like space, but also its own parking lot for customers – a very useful feature where people drive 90% of the time.

Regular travellers to Phuket may be familiar with No 6 Restaurant near Bangla Street. But not many would have heard of its new branch located atop a hill at Soi Phabarami. So reclusive is it, that diners still prefer standing in line for a spot in the cramped premises of the original restaurant.
Having heard of the many tourist-targeted scams in Patong, we were initially wary when a non-uniformed staff member approached us with a flyer advertising No 6 Restaurant’s hill top branch (we had stepped into a different restaurant with the No 6 signboard earlier that day and we were not taking any chances). However, reading up on TripAdvisor reviews convinced us otherwise, and it wasn’t long before we hopped on the shuttle bus for our last meal in Phuket.
Oh, by “shuttle bus”, I mean a sheltered lorry. And by “on top of a hill”, I mean up a steep slope with lots of sharp bends and turns. Hold on tight!
