CBD dwellers and supper hunters mourned when the legendary BK Eating House bak chor mee stall closed, then celebrated when it reappeared just opposite, then mourned again when it closed once again in late 2021.
Now, after a nine-month run at Orchard Plaza, the boss behind this fabled bowl of noodles has made his new, permanent home at SinFoodie food court in the basement of Clarke Quay Central. This time, aptly named Clarke Quay Bar Chor Mee.

The head cook, nicknamed Uncle Andrew, remains as feisty and zealous as ever at 65 years old, whipping up bowls of his signature dry back chor mee and mee sua during peak hours. His new disciples take up cooking duties during off-peak hours.
All things considered, the new location is a fairly decent upgrade for regulars, given its accessibility and comfort. Even though the supper hours of old are no longer.

Soup dishes are priced at $7, while signature noodle-and-soup sets sell for $7.50 – $9.50.

Signature Bar Chor Mee Set ($7.50 for Small, $9.50 for Large)
The Signature Bar Chor Mee Set is as tasty as I remembered, with its chewy noodles, morish sauce, and mushrooms sautéed to perfection. A substantial amount indeed for a “small” serving.

The pork and liver soup is what truly makes this set bang for buck. Packed to the brim with pork balls, pork slices, minced pork, fish cake, liver slices, and even “UFO” fish dumpling, the soup is insanely flavourful and can be enjoyed as a dish on its own.
The standout ingredient here is the liver, soft and tender, without being too overwhelming in taste. I could easily devour a couple of bowls of this delicious soup.
