Sometimes, the search for the perfect bowl of noodles takes you to places where you least expect it. Which is why I found myself in the far-flung corner of Bukit Batok’s industrial area, after braving an almost two-hour commute there.
“Noodles worth traveling from (insert neighbourhood in the opposite end of Singapore) to Bukit Batok for” should be Laifaba Authentic Wood-Fired Roast & Noodles‘ tagline. And judging by the bustling crowd at 2pm on a weekday, it seems many think the same.

Update 19 Jan 2025: Pikachu Donut will be available till 2 February 2025.
There are two stops I’ll consistently make a beeline for whenever I’m in Japan – Mister Donut and the nearest Pokémon Center.
With Mister Donut Singapore’s latest collaboration with the iconic anime series, you can enjoy the best worlds for a limited time till 19 January 2025!

Pokémon tie-ups with Mister Donut are common in Japan, with several other characters like Psyduck, Jigglypuff, and Diglett making their way into bakeries – and stomachs – across the country.
Did you know that Southeast Asia is home to some iconic coffee beans?
Luckin Coffee has launched its latest Single Origin Espresso (SOE) Black Cup Sumatra Gayo series, featuring exquisite Sumatra Gayo beans handpicked in the Gayo region in Sumatra, Indonesia, one of the many locations scouted by their Global Bean Hunting Initiative.

For the uninitiated, SOE stands for single-origin or single-area espresso, whose distinct flavours and aromas are created by the unique soil, climate, altitude, and other environmental conditions the coffee beans are found in.
I know what you’re thinking – another cafe in another cafe-overrun neighbourhood with specialty menus for lunch and dinner with the same island living-inspired decor. But, hear me out on this one!
Frankie & Fern’s is the new kid on the block – more specifically, Holland Avenue in Holland Village, that launched a little over a month back, and is already drawing non-stop queues to its “hidden” rooftop premises.

Tokyo food lovers, rejoice; here’s one more dish you needn’t travel out of Singapore to enjoy. Kaunta, an upscale Japanese restaurant, has brought Tusjihan’s viral kaisendon to our doorsteps, with much of its recipe and serving reproduced from top to bottom.

Update: Mashi no Mashi has moved to Chinatown.
Ramen is a humble Japanese staple that has seen its fair share of bougie upgrades. How about the bougiest of them all – a bowl of ramen made with 100% wagyu?
Mashi no Mashi is a multinational ramen chain that has made its name known across Japan, Hong Kong, even Saudi Arabia, and now, Singapore, for its all-wagyu ramen and other mouthwatering dishes.
