The Tuckshop @ Guillemard Road – Now Open For Brunch (Invite)

Ah, the tuckshop – haven of 80-cent bee hoon and Wang Wang biscuits from our primary school days. Who here recalls rushing down to their favourite stall during those precious half-hour recess times? 🙂

Today, it stands for another kind of haven – a bar-cum-cafe tucked away on Guillemard Road. Watering hole by night – and now brunch joint by day, The Tuckshop is now brunching out (ha ha ha) into the cafe scene with an all new weekday and weekend food menu!

With The Tuckshop’s slogan being “All Things Local”, I daresay their brunch selections are dedicated to bringing back the simple, joyous things in life – just like the tuckshops of old. 😉

PARK @ Holland Village (Sugar)

Every now and then, I like to hop off the train on the way home just to see what new places there are that I haven’t tried yet. Hey, what’s a little de-tour to let off some steam from a hectic day at the office, aye? 😉

PARK at Holland Village is one of those cafe cum bistros that I’ve been putting off visiting, till a sudden change of plans left me free (and aimless) at dinnertime. [CLOSED] The Chop House 2-Course Set Lunch @ VivoCity

Update June 2020: The Chop House has closed.

Like the neighbouring ports, VivoCity plays host to a smorgasbord of cultures, brands and flavours. Just a walk down the promenade will bring you up close with some of the world’s most mouthwatering cuisines – from classic Western flavours by Brotzeit and Jamie’s Italian to explosively tantalising Asian offerings like Crystal Jade and Menya Musahi.

The Chop House is one of them; branded as Singapore’s first self-tap beer gastrobar, it is the brainchild of the team behind Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, another hugely popular joint for meat maestros and closet carnivores. But while this vibrant-hued gastrobar is a regular haunt for lovers of the self-proclaimed “liquid diet” (cue pints of beer on a Friday night), The Chop House has also rolled out a 2-Course Set Lunch for the corporate bound at nearby HarbourFront offices, as well as hungry tourists on weekdays for S$19.90
