Yup, you heard me right. The world’s favourite food from the Land of the Rising Sun just got a funky makeover at Maki-San, a Japanese-inspired sushi joint that’s riding on Singapore’s newfound love for customisable, DIY bites! 😉

I stood transfixed at the array of vegetarian fillings, arranged strategically so that it resembled a summer-themed mosaic from afar. On the other side of the counter, kitchen staff were rapidly picking and stuffing them into freshly baked pita pockets in a way that made Middle Eastern cuisine seem almost like an art.
Mmm, this looks promising!

What I’ve just described is not your typical mealtime scene from a typical slice-of-life J-drama, but the oh so yummy dinner that greeted my tummy when I stopped by Tamoya Udon Singapore at Liang Court, a.k.a. the mecca of all things Japanese in Singapore!
