I’ve always felt the riverside area of Clarke Quay was a tad under-utilised, which is a waste considering its picturesque views and relaxed atmosphere. Fortunately, it looks like Paradox Merchant Court has revived its alfresco bar for its new Alfresco and Chill menu.
Available from 5pm every Wednesday to Sunday, Alfresco and Chill offers customers a condensed version of Ellenborough Market Cafe’s buffet, which includes mouthwatering selections of local-inspired tapas and snacks.
Ordering is a breeze, with digital menus accessible via QR codes. You’ll be kicking back with your favourite EMC dishes and tipples in no time!
Ever wanted to try something on the menu, but didn’t want to commit to an entire dish in case you ended up not liking it? Go for the Ferris Wheel Sampler ($35++) which serves up five types of fried snacks – Shrimp Paste Popcorn Chicken, Beer Battered Fish Fingers, Breaded Cheese Sticks, Spam Fries, and Homemade Nogh Hiang. I do find this a tad costly for the portions you get, but at least its presentation makes for a quirky icebreaker!

The Beer Battered Fish Fingers were a highlight for me, with the crisp skin and flaky, tender fish. The Shrimp Paste Popcorn Chicken will also be a hit with local-leaning palates.

Good news for fans of Ellenborough Market Cafe’s buffet. You can enjoy a selection of their local seafood and meat offerings. The Chilli Crab Sauce Crayfish ($22++) boasts fresh crayfish with fall-off-the-shell flesh coated with sweet and spicy sauce. Tze char fans will also love the Sweet and Sour Pork Meatballs ($14++).

For drinks, sip away on a variety of wines, cocktails, and more, courtesy of the Riverside Kiosk which is situated next to Read Bridge. You can also enjoy draft and craft beers from $10 – $13 a pop!
