Singapore is no stranger to American burger pop-up. This time, savour America’s best burger as crowned by Good Morning America at the Bored and Hungry Singapore Pop-Up from 11 to 19 August 2023.
Hosted at Mirage – The Parlour, a craft beer bar and Singapore’s first non-fungible token (NFT) bar in Farrer Park, this limited-time experience marks its first foray into our city-state.

Established by founder Andy Nguyen in Long Beach, California, Bored and Hungry has since gone on to achieve massive popularity and success in the US and Southeast Asia, along with two permanent outlets.
For now, you have a week to savour the fabulous smash burgers whose existence was inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club. For those unaware, it’s a world-famous NFT project that grants holders exclusive memberships and intellectual property rights to the Apes they hold, which explains the prevalent Ape motif in the packaging and decor.

It’s almost fitting that the Bored and Hungry Singapore pop-up is hosted at Mirage – The Parlour, which prides itself as Singapore’s first NFT bar with craft beers, themed exhibitions, and even a tiny analog film store. Talk about blending digital with analog.

The menu is limited to a single Combo Meal ($25 for Burger, Fries, and Soft Drink; top up $10 for Craft Beer). An additional $8 top-up gets you a Secret Menu inspired by eight of the most exciting NFT collaborations. Try to guess them based on the emoji clues!

Bored and Hungry Singapore Pop Up Combo ($25 for Burger, Fries, and Soft Drink, top up $10 for Craft Beer)
Bored and Hungry’s Bored OG Burger will leave you feeling the opposite of its name when you’re done.
From the first bite, you are greeted with a world of flavours, from the smoky, grilled beef patty, to the savoury notes of the melted American cheese, and finally the sweetness of the caramelised onions. While the potato buns are pillowy soft yet not too thick. I also loved how varied the patty was inn texture, starting from crisp and firm at the edge, and gradually giving way to a centre that practically melts in your mouth.
It is the stuff that fantasies of American food adventures are made of.

As for the fries, they are crisp and thick, with just the right amount of oil to make it decadent without overly cloying. I actually enjoyed these more than the burger!

Feeling thirsty? Refresh yourself with the Bored and Boozy craft beer, a zesty concoction made with sour plum, malted barley, malted wheat, oats, hops, and yeast. Unlike the burger and fries, Bored and Boozy is a locally-made beverage by The Parlour.

Whether you’re a seasoned NFT collector or a curious foodie, Bored and Hungry’s pop-up store will certainly satisfy you. With luck, they might just open their second permanent outpost in Southeast Asia, right after the Philippines.
