When in Bangkok: Fran’s @ Ngam Duphli Alley, Sathon – Must-Visit Brunch Cafe in Bangkok

Aside from street food and family-style eateries, Bangkok is also home to many cafes fitted with mouthwatering brunch items and creature comforts. Fran’s is a modern-style cafe that has gained popularity for its famous Velvet Egg and Bacon Open-Faced Sandwich.

A five to ten-minute walk from Lumphini MRT station, Fran’s offers a calm oasis of delicious brunch and relaxing greenery away from the city’s bustling center.  The cafe spans an indoor and alfresco area, the latter fitted with lush plants and umbrellas expertly placed to shield you from the fiercest of afternoon suns. Go for alfresco seating if you’re looking for a more intimate and relaxed setup.

The menu is as expansive as the cafe grounds, offering a variety of comfort foods from açai bowls and open-faced sandwiches to sophisticated pasta dishes.

The Velvet Egg and Bacon Open-Faced Sandwich (390 baht) is what shot Frans’ to fame in the region, and it’s not hard to see why. Silky-smooth scrambled eggs that live up to their name accompanied by a thick slab of perfectly caramelised, fork-tender bacon. A hearty one that’s a must-try if you’re a fan of the eggs on-toast combination.

Fran’s Avocado Breakfast (590 baht) also deserves a shout. The avocado lends the hollandaise sauce a unique, tangy twist that elevates the rich egg yolks. Mushrooms are also well sautéed, and the crispy bacon and smoked salmon round up this wholesome brunch item.
