Once off the radar (literally), the fairly secluded Okunoshima 大久野島, otherwise known as Usaghishimaうさぎ島 or Bunny Island, first gained Internet fame in 2014 when a video of a tourist swarmed by dozens of hungry, feral rabbits went viral.

Since then, the island has become synonymous with these cuddly, gentle beings, and a must-visit for rabbit lovers. But before you pack your bags and head for this underrated paradise, here are six things you should know about Okunoshima before you go:

When in Kagawa: Naoshima and Teshima – Visiting Japan’s Art Islands in the Seto Inland Sea

Situated on the Seto Inland Sea, the rural islands of Naoshima and Teshima have been heralded as a mandatory pilgrimage by many contemporary art lovers. Home to creative museums and quaint art districts, the islands also play host to the Setouchi Art Triennale which takes place every three years.

While Yayoi Kusama’s wildly iconic Yellow Pumpkin sculpture has captured the attention (and cameras) of more casual explorers, it is certainly not the only reason Naoshima and Teshima should be included on your itinerary if you are travelling around Kagawa!

When in Hiroshima: Bakudan-ya Honten ばくだん屋 @ Naka Ward – Slurp Up Hiroshima Style Tsukemen with a Fiery Dipping Sauce Around the Corner from Okonimimura

While Hiroshima may be famed for her deliciously fat oysters and okonomiyaki, did you know that the city is also home to a unique style of ramen? Known as tsukemen, this dish is essentially a soupless version of the comforting ramen noodles we have come to know and love, paired with a bowl of thick dipping sauce to coat them noodles.

From Singapore to Penang: A Travel Bucket List (Traveloka Invite)

Believe it or not, I am one of a handful of Singaporeans who rarely explores Malaysia as a travel destination; I can count the number of times I’ve travelled across the Causeway on one hand.

Anyway, when Traveloka, an online travel e-commerce site in Southeast Asia, invited me to check out their flights and hotels from Singapore to Malaysia and Indonesia, curiosity got the better of me and I did a quick search on their flights from Singapore to Penang for the month of June. Holy smokes! A one-way airline ticket goes as low as RM 82! What have I been doing all these long weekends?
