Tipsy Penguin can be described as somewhat of a hidden gem in central Tampines. Since its opening some three years ago, it has been huddled between two bustling commercial centers, Our Tampines Hub and the trio of shopping malls around Tampines MRT station. Until the recent hiatus on live performances, Tipsy Penguin has served as a robust gathering place for residents and workers alike in the east.
Service is quick and attentive, and dishes are prepared to order. Looking through the menu, you will find a mishmash of dishes and bar bites that scream East meets West, best enjoyed over a drink or two!
The Crabmeat Capellini ($16), though a little on the small side, is cooked al dente and the seafood is toothsome and fresh. If you’re looking to indulge without the dreaded post-meal coma, this main dish is ideal.

If there is one dish I would recommend from Tipsy Penguin’s menu, it would be the Baked Chicken Curry Don ($14). The spiced pasta Nyonya Rempah and coconut milk are what lend this dish its distinctly spicy flavours, with just the right amount of heat. The chicken is also amazingly tender, with the rice adding a comforting finish. Definitely order this if you’re in the mood for some luxed-up curry!

Don’t leave without trying the renowned Tipsy’s Burnt Cheesecake ($10)! The Japanese-style dessert is fluffy and light, and melts in your mouth with every bite. Top up with some sweet, refreshing ice cream to complete this treat.

Add in the live music that used to be a part of Tipsy Penguin’s regular program, and it would make a perfect hangout for Easties!
