I’ve a strange liking for visiting convenience stores whenever I’m out of Singapore. So when we discovered Avery-Day, a new Japanese-style konbini had opened across from KSL City Mall during a recent road trip to Johor Bahru, I couldn’t resist popping by for a look!
You’ll have no trouble spotting Avery-Day, as its Santorini-themed white and blue decor stands out from neighbouring stores and eateries. With an alfresco dining deck with beach brollies, as well as neon signs scattered around its interior, it would not look out of place at the beach.
Aside from its decor, what makes Avery-Day stand out is the sheer variety of imported snacks and drinks, especially from Japan. Weekly or monthly discounts are also listed on the store’s Instagram page and who knows, you could even snag a not-often-seen gem!
Peckish customers can also grab a cake from Avery-Day’s in-house bakery partner, Grab & Go by vburg. Otherwise, there are also soft serves and fried snacks available at the checkout counter. The signature Soft Serve with Lotus Biscoff (RM3.50 for cone, RM4.50 for cup) is smooth and uplifting!
