Rosti seems to be growing in popularity in Singapore, with numerous cafes and even hawkers offering this Swiss staple. Yet, it’s pretty uncommon to find places serving rosti exclusively, considering how quickly food trends come and go.
PÖONSTI is a new rosti concept currently operating out of Old Hen Kitchen in Farrer Park, serving various takes on it exclusively during brunch. Coincidentally, the cafe is also home to artisanal pizza joint, Chooby Pizza come evening.

Five toppings are available, from traditional sour cream to smashed avocado and poached egg. The potato pancakes are made from scratch in small batches, so be prepared to wait a fair bit. It’s worth it, though, as the rosti is delightfully crunchy and starchy, making a delicious base for your topping of choice.
The Salmon Rosti ($17+) pairs this versatile base with ingredients typically associated with bagels – house-cured salmon with ricotta, capers, pickled onions, and dill for added sharpness. The gelatinous texture of the salmon, combined with its savoury and smoky flavours, makes this a winner in my books.

PÖONSTI occupying the same space as Old Hen Kitchen means you can also try its other food and beverages, such as the Cold Brew White Coffee ($6.90+) which is a must-try for coffee aficionados.

PÖONSTI embodies the principle of doing one thing and doing it right. And with its rostis selling out daily, you won’t want to dally about checking it out.
