Pastry lovers who are conscious about their health, you can have your cake and eat it – with The Good Cupcakes Company’s 150-calorie cupcakes, made with a self-invented, no-preservative recipe.

Opened in 2020, The Good Cupcakes Company also defies the oft-held stereotype of healthy food being bland and boring, with beautifully-piped decorations in floral and classic themes. The intricate designs of the hand-piped buttercream make you feel like you’re picking flowers in full bloom!
Taste-wise, the cupcake base is certainly… healthier-tasting than your regular cupcakes, with noticeably less sweetness. Still, they’re delightfully soft and buttery to bite into, and the buttercream adds some richness to these healthy treats. At about $4 apiece, the Floral Cupcakes ($68 for Set of 12) are pretty reasonable. Choose from three flavours, Earl Grey Lavender, Raspberry Rose, and Chocolate Buttercream.
Classic Cupcakes ($48 for Set of 12) are also available in 11 flavours, from Lemon Meringue to Banoffee.

Aside from cupcakes, you can also find Korean Bean Paste Floral Cookies ($58 for Box of 6) – hand-piped with Earl Grey, Matcha, and Vanilla Bean flavours – as well as animal-themed Shortbead Cookies (~$30 for Box of 4). Look out for holiday-themed specials such as Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year!

With most hawker staples averaging up to 800 calories, whipping up desserts with less than half their calorie count is no mean feat. I’ll be looking to The Good Cupcakes Company next time I’m craving something sweet without the sin.
