We sure love our viral drinks in Singapore.
-86°C dirty coffee is the latest viral food trend to hit our shores after making its rounds in Shanghai. Described as a “drink from two seasons”, the ephemeral coffee consists of chilled distilled milk and espresso served in a glass jar cooled to -86°C.
And now, it’s available in limited quantities — 100 cups daily, to be exact — at Slow Boat, Singapore’s first vinyl listening cafe in Tanjong Pagar.

There are three versions of -86°C dirty coffee at Slow Boat: Original, Baileys, and Chocolate (the only non-caffeine option). The Chocolate is the most popular of the three, selling out in under an hour on its first weekend.

There is something mildly poetic about the -86°C dirty coffee whose temperature changes drastically from the moment it is made, especially in this unforgiving heat. The frozen-solid walls of the glass cup is visually striking, and the beverage is incredibly smooth and creamy.
I preferred the Baileys ($14) for its extra shot of flavour to the Original ($10), which came out smooth, but slightly flat.

The -86°C dirty coffee is available for dine-in or takeaway if you do not have a vinyl listening session booked. And yes, you can keep the picturesque glass cup — a remnant of hipster days long past.
