Indonesian comfort food gets a modern upgrade at MOONSTONE Bar, a quaint noodle place cum bar situated along Amoy Street. Helmed by Keith Koh and Anthony Utama, the latter of whom also owns the famous Tamade Cafeteria in Bali, this new entry to Tanjong Pagar’s robust kaleidoscope of food joints and watering holes is where you can expect to find street food staples with a couple of twists.
Togetsuko Bridge. Tenryuji Temple. Bamboo Forest. These are just some of the must-see spots for any tourist worth his or salt at Arashiyama, Kyoto. But for coffee aficionados, there’s one more item on the checklist – %ARABICA.
Opened in 2014, %ARABICA is the brainchild of Kenneth Shoji, a coffee farm owner and coffee machine distributor whose love for coffee sprouted during his time in the “unique fusion of beach hippie culture” in Venice Beach, California. Since then, the coffee chain’s minimalist stores have sprung up around locations ranging from historic to iconic, as well as fashionable cities like Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.

A fairly new entrant to Far East Square, Korio has been taking Singapore’s F&B scene by storm with its mouthwatering grilled sandwiches and New York inspired brioche doughnuts.
On my first visit to Korio’s hole-in-the-wall sized kiosk one weekend afternoon, nearly all sandwiches were sold out, and the display case was wiped clean of doughnuts. It took me another visit, also early on a weekday, to finally score those legendary sweets. Looking at the large crowd and 1-hour waiting times, one could easily forget that eating out ever took a hit from 2020’s coronavirus pandemic!
Not one to rest on their laurels, LUNA on Amoy Street has been hard at work to concoct new, mouthwatering cakes. September brings two new entries to the patisserie’s menu: Rose Raspberry and Yuzu Meringue!
