[MOVED] The Assembly Ground @ The Cathay

Update 20 Jan 2025: The Assembly Ground has moved to Somerset.

If you were confused initially by The Assembly Ground’s presence at The Cathay, you’re not alone. This newly opened cafe is the F&B counterpart to The Assembly fashion store, and it bears no relation whatsoever to its namesake, Assembly Coffee in Evans Road.

It also breaks the mould of not being situated in an out-of-reach, hole-in-the-wall kind of neighbourhood.

[CLOSED] Charlie Brown Cafe @ Orchard Cineleisure

Update 20 Jan 2025: Charlie Brown Cafe has closed.

Growing up, if there’s anything I like more than leisurely weekend breakfasts, it’s gotta be the cartoons that they used to air on those mornings. Pokémon, Powerpuff Girls – you name it. Few things were as good as watching my favourite onscreen heroes and heroines with a plateful of home cooked goodness in front of the telly. 😀

With themed cafe’s like the Charlie Brown Cafe at Orchard Cineleisure and 313 Somerset, there’s no need to wait around all week for the opportune moment. At both its alfresco and indoor outlets, the simple-minded, yellow shirt-donning boy stands tall with his pet beagle, promising a slice of childhood for shoppers and office workers alike in Singapore’s busiest commercial district.

3 for $13 Haul from Lovisa

I love my rings like I love Pringles; I can’t stop at one. Okay, that wasn’t the best analogy but I needed to fit something in and I was having the hunger pangs (as usual).

Anyway, going back to my favourite accessory: there’s something alluring about how the tiniest details can add so much flair to your outfit. I think my obsession began when I started shopping at flea markets and discovered how you can pair so many cheap accessories for different looks!

So when Lovisa had their 3 for $13 sale, there was no way I could resist. I mean, I’ve always been a fan of their chunky designs and statement pieces, but I honestly don’t believe in spending a bomb on something that’s relatively smaller compared to my other accessories, and is just sitting on my finger all day long. This discount, though, means that selected pieces go for a mere third of their original price; a real steal! 😀

[CLOSED] Come ALIVE! 7 ways to make the most of your visit to Alive Museum Singapore @ Suntec City (OMY Blog Club)

Update June 2020: Alive Museum has closed.

Us Singaporeans love taking selfies, but we love taking selfies in themed locations even more. Just look at the number of people queuing for a snap with a cutesy mascot and some snazzy props at any event or theme park! 😀

Making snap-happy visitors even happier, Korea’s hugely popular Alive Museum has transplanted itself to the heart of Singapore (Suntec City, to be precise) with a “specialty” in local-themed installations.

Judging by the explosion of Alive Museum related blog posts, Instagram snaps and Facebook albums, it’s no wonder that this 3D illusory attraction is quickly becoming one of our must-dos in Singapore. So before you check it out with your camera in tow, here are 7 ways to make the most of your visit:

Pokémon Cup Noodles from Pokémon Centre

It’s no secret of mine that I’m absolutely obsessed with Pokémon, ever since those animated monsters hit my television screen some fourteen years back. With Pikachu and gang dominating the anime industry ever since, it’s no surprise that they would have their own instant cup noodles alongside their already massive line of games, shows and merchandise.

The concept of these instant noodles is no stranger to the otaku world, really – just replace the regular kamaboko (boiled fish paste) with prints of the character in question. But since I had never seen them before, I was pretty excited – gotta eat ‘em all, I guess! 😀
