The MacPherson-Tai Seng area – otherwise known as that far-flung industrial corner of the east – just added another cafe to its ever growing list of F&B options. Knots Living, a furniture shop cum florist, now offers drinks, cakes, and other baked goods.
Walking into its two storey premises at Orion@Paya Lebar, the urban garden vibe reminds me of an IKEA for hipsters and Instagrammers – think an eclectic mix of wood furniture strewn about. And yes, you can even buy that table you’re seating at.
The menu is kept small and simple – it is first and foremost a furniture showroom after all. $8.90 gets you a Cake and Coffee Set.
The Rainbow Cake I had was decent; buttercream that wasn’t too thick, and the multi-coloured sponge was passably moist (the top red layer was way too dry though). Waffles and ice cream was another popular choice among the other diners, with pizza as one of the mains available.
With its relaxed atmosphere and seating aplenty, Knots Living is a perfect place to escape to for a quiet afternoon of coffee and furniture hunting. Come golden hour, the light that emanates throughout the first level is just magical. Plus points for WiFi and power sockets for the weekend workaholic in me!
