It’s that time of the year when we gather round the table with our loved ones, to recall a year well spent over good food and company.
PORTA Fine Food & Company – home of the Singapore River Signature Prawn and Chorizo Pasta – invites festive diners to indulge in their Festive Menu come mid December (details at the bottom of this post!).
For starters, titillate your taste buds with a Charcuterie Platter ($30++) – a homely combination of homemade duck rillette, foie gras terrine, chorizo, Bayonne Ham and saucisson.
The Festive Menu is a three course extravaganza which boasts a selection of carefully crafted dishes, designed to evoke that holiday nostalgia with every bite. For starters, PORTA whips up a couple of seafood based creations.
The Gravlax ($16++ ala carte) comprises Norwegian Salmon with orange segments, topped with marinated fennel and avruga caviar for a refreshing combination of sweet and savoury flavours. I especially liked how the fennel added some subtle crunch, along with the caviar.
An equally luxurious starter can be found in the Lobster Bisque ($16++) – velvety rich with a hint of cognac scent in the broth. There’s even crayfish ravioli to further whet your appetite!
Meat lovers will surely delight in the mains; the Sucking Pig ($40++) is a comforting combination of Spanish suckling pig confit, choucroute, Idaho potato, and juicy cherry tomato. Loved how every element in this dish came together perfectly, with the flavourful vegetables complimenting the succulent pig confit and crispy skin – hands up if you agree that crispy skin is everything!
For something a little more indulgent for the holiday season, tuck into the Pepper Steak ($38++), seared to perfection and served with pepper sauce and thick cut fries (if you are dining at PORTA for the first time, seriously do yourself a favour and try those legendary fries!).
End your festive meal on a sweet note with PORTA’s desserts – a classic Christmas Log Cake ($14++). While I’m not too big a fan of overly rich desserts, this log cake hit all the right notes for me, from the most chocolate sponge, to the luscious Manjari dark chocolate cream and fresh berries.
My favourite for the night, though, is definitely the Baked Alaska ($12++) with raspberry sorbet, sponge, and meringue. Thanks for having us!
