With Chinese New Year a month away, gathering the family together can be a feat, especially with conflicting schedules among relatives. So, why not lessen the headache of preparing a feast for the fam, by heading down to Amara Singapore’s Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner?
Happening on 15 February, at 6pm, the lunar new year bonanza features an 8-course spread for revellers to choose from, as well as yusheng arranged in the shape of the Dog, in commemoration of this year’s zodiac animal.
Familiar flavours abound in the menu, with dishes like Drunken Chicken and Cucumber with Sesame Dressing to whet your appetite, and whole Roasted Chicken, Smoked Duck and Black Pepper Crayfish to sustain even the hungriest of relatives.
Vegetarian Pen Cai is also on the menu, so fret not if there are vegetarians dining with you!
For Western inclined palates, Amara Singapore will also be whipping up a selection of seafood based starters and hot dishes. The Chilled Angel Hair Pasta with Truffle Oil and Kombu is not to be missed if you are looking to start your meal on a refreshing note!
Otherwise, fill your plates with Homemade Mandarin Orange or Beetroot Salmon.
Beef Bourguignon is also available; seems like Amara Singapore thought of everyone when designing the menu!
Out of all the dishes, my favourites were the Chilled Angel Hair Pasta, Roasted Chicken, Homemade Salmon and Pen Cai. It seems that most of the other diners were on the same page, as these dishes were the first to be snapped up during the preview.
For dessert, Amara Singapore chose to venture off the beaten track, so to speak, by introducing their very own range of Chempedak (jackfruit) based desserts.
While the initial taste might be little overwhelming to the uninitiated, I found them to be pretty enjoyable, especially with the unique texture and flavour. Be sure to try out the Creme Brûlée and Cake!
Another unique dessert on the menu is the Pomelo Tangyuan, sprinkled in edible gold leaves. Indulgent much?!
