Public holidays in Singapore are good for two things – kicking back and relaxing, and venturing out to try new food. I had the privilege of sampling Amara Hotel’s Element Dinner Buffet on National Day, along with the hotel’s annual FUNOLOGY SG53 extravaganza!
Staffed by hospitable chefs and attentive waiters, Element has all the elements (see what I did there?) of a wholesome buffet. From the sashimi boat that greet you when you first enter, to the smörgåsbord of colours and flavours from the cold cuts and salads section, right down to fresh seafood and live stations for peking duck and mee siam, every station spells Amara Hotel’s attention to detail. Food stations are also positioned conveniently along a single line, so you don’t have to wander around too much to find your dish of choice.
While there are a few hits and misses, dining at Element is overall a satisfying experience, whether you are a hotel guest or a ravenous office worker looking to indulge. Hot selections are also available if you’re craving some comfort food for your meal.
Worth checking out are Element’s signature chempedak desserts, which stray from the typical durian or chocolate based selections at other buffets. These had a distinct flavour but were not overly pungent, so don’t miss out on them!
Aside from the usual array of Asian and Western fare, Element occasionally holds a couple of side events, usually in the alfresco area. Look out for their annual FUNOLOGY SG53 event which takes place annually in the week leading up to National Day!
