Launched on 17 September, this newcomer to the touristy Boat Quay neighbourhood near Raffles Place MRT boasts a gorgeous 50-seater alfresco dining area, with various watering holes in the vicinity.
Helmed by award-winning Executive Chef George Tan, expect George Town’s menu to boast comforting, wholesome dishes plucked from Ayer Hitam in George Town, Penang. Despite its prime location, I was surprised that prices are kept pretty affordable, with portions generous and set to make mouths water.
Feed your inner seafood lover with some Pumpkin Prawns ($20), which are coated generously in a pumpkin sauce that complements the fresh, sweet prawns perfectly. These are guaranteed to be gone in a flash.

Signature items at George Town Tze Char include Rendang Beef Cubes ($18) and Penang Thai Style Squid ($15), which are generously portioned and expertly flavoured. Each bites yields tantalising flavours which elevate the fresh ingredients used. The Penang Thai Style Squid is especially bouncy with a satisfying mouthfeel.

Meat lovers, chow down on some Marmite Ribs ($18) which are saturated with flavour.

Aside from sharing dishes, you can also indulge in some affordable main dishes. Like the XO Signature Hor Fun ($12) which boasts well-balanced flavours of sweet, spicy, and savoury, infused with homemade XO sauce. The seafood in this dish is also incredibly fresh!

Meticulously prepared with Thai herbs and spices including lemongrass, tamarind, lime leaves,
curry leaves and bird’s eye chillies, the Thai Curry Fish Head ($28) is a tangy, comforting dish that will leave you craving for more. The sweet, tender meat falls off the bone easily.
