Update 19 Jan 2025: 46 Mittsu has moved to North Canal Road and re-branded to Go Rogue
I have a love-hate relationship with sandos. On one hand, they’re crazy delicious and stuffed to the brim with flavourful ingredients. On the other hand, I’ve never had a sando eating experience that did not end in a handful of ingredients spilling from two slices of bread gallantly holding it all together.
And yet, like after every messy break in between a tumultuous, yet addictive relationship, I find myself going back for more. Today’s trip against better judgement is to 46 Mittsu, a sando kiosk tucked away in Everton Park.

Located a 10-minute walk away from Outram Park MRT Station, 46 Mittsu has made its home in an enclave of hidden foodie gems. Like most heartland cafes and eateries, the space is extremely compact, seating less than 15 at any given time. If the weather permits, opt for al fresco seating where you can lean back (literally) and watch residents of Everton Park going about their day.

46 Mittsu was also founded by a three-man team, two of whom hail from Two Men Bagel House. So don’t be surprised if you find some vibes and flavours similar to theirs!

46 Mittsu’s menu comprises a few mainstays, as well as flavours that are rotated every six to eight months.
The curiously-named Mr Kena ($16) serves up a hearty combination of smoked spicy Italian sausage, succotash, avocado, and melty nacho cheese. The thick, juicy sausages burst with flavour on each bite, and the succotash add a visual and taste punch. The smoky and spicy aftertaste of the sausages also make this sando an especially hearty one.
I suppose it is so named because by the end of your meal, you would definitely have kena-ed a couple of bites of succotash or avocado dropping back onto the tray. The bread is on the dense side.

Brunch goers might enjoy the A.E.C. – Avocado, Egg, and Cheddar ($14) which is one of 46 Mittsu’s mainstays.
This sando combines everything you love in a breakfast – runny, scrambled truffle eggs, with creamy sliced avocado and melted cheese holding it all together. My tastebuds were assaulted with an intense umami-ness from the first bite – perhaps too much, and best offset with some iced tea.
There’s another flavour with thick-cut bacon, and you can also add on other fillings of your choice from Hash ($2) to Asian-inspired goodies like Masala Chix ($5) and Jang Jang Pork ($4).

A.E.C. – Avocado, scrambled egg, cheese, brioche ($14)
Wash it all down with a selection of coffee ($5 – $8) or ice tea ($4.50).

Ice White ($5.50)
46 Mittsu serves up homely vibes and wholesome sandos, and it’s not hard to see why the crowds keep coming even on a late weekend afternoon! You can keep an eye out for new flavours or limited-time collabs on their Instagram.
