[CLOSED] Aqua S Singapore @ Orchard Xchange – Whimsical Pastel Blue Soft Serve from Down Under Opens in Singapore; New Flavours Fortnightly

Update 19 Jan 2025: Aqua S has closed.

While I’m not too big on desserts, I’m always down for a lil sweet treat now and then. Heck, the more dramatic, the better.

So when the fantastically Instagram famous Aqua S from Sydney, Australia announced their plans to set up shop in Singapore, I was pretty intrigued. As I had never tried their pastel hued soft serve, often hidden behind a voluminous cloud of cotton candy on my social media feed, I was eager to try it out when they opened their doors this week at Orchard Xchange.

[CLOSED] When in Shanghai: Seesaw Coffee @ Yuyuan Road – Local Coffee Chain Set in an Instagram Worthy Courtyard

Update June 2020: SeeSaw Coffee’s Yuyuan Road outlet has closed.

I’m back from a quick getaway to Shanghai, China to catch a much needed break, spend time with family, and discover more food spots in another corner of the world!

While global coffee chains like Starbucks and Costa Coffee are incredibly popular and far reaching (with outlets even showing up in the likes of Zhujiajiao Watertown 朱家角 and Yu Garden豫园), that’s not to say local chains are not catching up, either. One name that popped up quite a few times during my trip research was Seesaw Coffee on Yuyuan Road, a popular spot with a hipster vibe, thanks to its location in the ground level of Jing’An Design Centre.

[CLOSED] Haritts Donuts & Coffee @ Havelock Road – Famous Chewy Donuts from Tokyo; Only 300 Available Daily

Update 19 Jan 2025: Harritts Donuts has closed.

Regulars to Clarke Quay may have noticed the addition of a cozy takeaway kiosk selling puffy looking donuts on Havelock Road. Unlike other Japanese bakeries that have opened to much fanfare in downtown Singapore, Haritts Donuts & Coffee made its Singapore debut in May, in a rather quiet, understated manner – much like its pioneer shop in Tokyo, Japan.
