As we resume some semblance of “life before lockdown”, one thing that’s been on my mind for ages is waking up to a good brunch on the weekend. Here to satiate long-deprived cravings for hearty morning grub is Mischief, everyone’s favourite American-style bar at Esplanade.
will.i.am once sang, “I like them big, I like them chunky”, and the same couldn’t ring more true for me and my cookies. The chunkier the better, and if they come with an oozing centre, even better!
In the two years since it launched online, Nasty Cookie has added many accolades under its belt, the biggest of it being its first takeout kiosk at Funan Mall in City Hall. The self-proclaimed first ever NY-style gourmet cookie is known for its decadent toppings and crumbly dough made with about 15 – 20% less sugar, so you can indulge your cookie cravings without the calorie-laden guilt trip that comes with it.

Udon want to miss this new addition to Amoy Street – geddit geddit? Kiyoshi Japanese Restaurant opened its doors shortly before the commencement of the circuit breaker period in Singapore, and is now ready to welcome dine-in customers who are seeking refreshing Japanese cuisine amidst a busy day.

Meat lovers in search of some gastronomic respite this stay home season, can turn to Salted & Hung, a four years old establishment that specialises in Australian cuisine. Nestled amongst other quaint eateries and restaurants along Purvis Street near Bugis MRT, the restaurant adopts a nose-to-tail philosophy in dining, meaning no part of the animal is wasted in creating their mouth-watering dishes.

One of the advantages of islandwide delivery is getting to sample all kinds of restaurants and cafes that I would normally be too lazy to make the trip for.
Last month, Cafe Coco pulled off a pretty commendable feat by pledging 100% of their proceeds for the latter part of May to the Singapore Red Cross, in spite of the dire situation faced by most, if not all F&B businesses. Located within the Supertree Food Hall at Gardens by the Bay, Cafe Coco is now looking to pull through the rest of Phase 1 by churning out cold brews for coffee aficionados across the country.
I may be working at the far end of Raffles Place now, but I’ll always be an Amoy Street gal at heart. There’s just something exciting about discovering new local joints in that hood that can’t quite be found anywhere else in Singapore. Arriving at this bustling mecca of local and foreign flavours two months ago was LUNA, a local patisserie chock full of artisanal cakes and other baked goods.
As you know what they say: no circuit breaker period is gonna stop me from trying new cafes and restaurants beyond the east side of Singapore! Especially with food delivery services making things more convenient for us diners.
You know you’re at a authentic Italian restaurant when your pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven, and the words “Haiwaiian” and “pineapple” are nowhere to be found on the menu. Situated along Hong Kong Street, a stone’s throw away from Clarke Quay MRT Station, is Amò, a cozy Italian outfit that prides itself on its “labour of love and craftsmanship”.
