A new bubble tea player has come to town. MEME Xpress, a popular Malaysian brand known for its fruity yogurt drinks and cute, palm-sized cups, opened its first store in none other than Toa Payoh HDB Hub, home to an already bustling scene of bubble tea shops. At the helm of its Singapore franchise is none other than Mediacorp veteran actor Chen Shucheng, who himself has dipped his toes in F&B management in between his acting stints!

A fairly new entrant to Far East Square, Korio has been taking Singapore’s F&B scene by storm with its mouthwatering grilled sandwiches and New York inspired brioche doughnuts.

On my first visit to Korio’s hole-in-the-wall sized kiosk one weekend afternoon, nearly all sandwiches were sold out, and the display case was wiped clean of doughnuts. It took me another visit, also early on a weekday, to finally score those legendary sweets. Looking at the large crowd and 1-hour waiting times, one could easily forget that eating out ever took a hit from 2020’s coronavirus pandemic!
