[CLOSED] Xing Fu Tang Singapore 幸福堂 @ Century Square, Tampines – Taiwan’s Instagram Worthy Boba with Brown Sugar & Rabbit Panna Cotta Has Landed in Singapore

Update January 2023: Xing Fu Tang has closed.

Bubble tea – or boba as they like to call it in the US – has been enjoying some kind of renaissance recently. From dingy neighbourhood joints peddling eyebrow raising flavours (Blue Coral, anyone?), to sophisticated franchises, this popular beverage has sure come a long way since its humble origins in Taiwan in the 1980s.

The latest addition to Singapore’s ever growing array of bubble tea chains is Xing Fu Tang 幸福堂. Opened one and a half years ago, this hugely popular brand has already opened close to 100 outlets in its native Taiwan, as well as Japan, Canada, and Thailand.

[CLOSED] House of Happiness @ Bedok Road, Tanah Merah – Claypot Rice with Tobiko and Pork Jowl by Mr Lorbak

Update 19 Jan 2025: House of Happiness has closed.

While cooking technologies and recipes advance swiftly in this day and age, nothing beats the good old fashioned dishes we grew up with. Claypot rice is one dish that stands out from my childhood. Nothing beat the satisfaction of tucking into a piping hot meal that had been diligently slow cooked over a charcoal stove, with dozens of similarly packed claypots simmering away over the flames.

House of Happiness at Bedok Shopping Complex on Bedok Road is one such eatery that is preserving this beloved dish with a few modern twists.
