Tampines’ cafe and desserts scene just got a little busier – hooray! – with the arrival of Around Cafe’s second outpost in the east. Occupying a gorgeous glasshouse outside The Alps, a condominium situated a bus ride away from Tampines West MRT Station, Around Cafe is fast becoming a crowd favourite with its light-filled vicinity and overseas cafe vibes.
Like its sister outlet in Ang Mo Kio, Around Cafe in Tampines specializes in ice cream and waffles, along with a selection of other refreshing desserts and beverages. Ice Cream flavours range from the classics like Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate, to funkier, vivid creations like Cookie Monster.
My personal favorite is the Fruit Loops, with the crushed cereal distinct both in appearance and taste!

What’s a couple of scoops – or in this case, rounds – of ice cream without some good ol’ waffles? I really enjoyed Around Cafe’s Waffles, which are thick yet fluffy. You can also choose between Nutella and Maple Syrup; go for the Nutella to add some visual pop to your waffes!
Waffle With Two Rounds ($14.90, + $6 for Drink)
A bevy of drinks is also available for a $6 top-up if you order a Waffle with Two Rounds. I was impressed to find that Around even serves its own rendition of bubble tea, complete with boba!
Milk Tea ($3.90)
Around Cafe hits all the checkmarks of a cozy heartland cafe that is both aesthetically pleasing and capable of churning out mouthwatering desserts. With operations running till 2am, easties can enjoy a late-night bite!
