Some things are just better when they are together, and food and wine are no exception. New Ubin Seafood has rolled out the Truly Singaporean Makan & Wine Pairing Lunch ($85++, $75++ for Early Bird Reservations), a monthly affair that curates selected cuisines with various wines.
The most recent Penfolds Wine Pairing Lunch saw a range of Penfolds’ best red wines gracing the tables at New Ubin Seafood’s CHIJMES branch. For fans of Australian wine, Penfolds needs no introduction.
New Ubin Seafood is known for its eclectic mix of traditional local dishes and modern takes on cuisines from around the world. With seven well-paired courses including an aperitif of Penfolds Koonunga Hill Autumn Reisling, you’ll be making merry with your table in no time.
Food-wise, the standout dishes in this instalment of Makan & Wine were the Baked Salmon with Haricot Beans and Hae Bee Hiam (paired with Penfolds Cellar Reserve Sangiovese) and Lime Leaf Chicken (paired with Penfolds Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz). Both dishes featured robust flavours that were well enhanced by their respective wine pairings. The Cupim (Brazilian Zebu Cattle Hump Meat served with Pita Bread, Salsa, and Mexican Sauce (paired with Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz) also made for a fun, do-it-yourself experience!
Some of the wines served during Makan & Wine are also available at a discount, so if you’re out and about for lunch and looking for some solid wine picks for your home cellar, New Ubin Seafood is a good place to hit two birds with one stone. The menu rotates on a monthly basis, and with early reservations available till mid-month, you don’t want to miss out!
