Tampines foodies win once more with the opening of Casa Vostra‘s third outlet at Tampines Mall. The Italian restaurant, known for its affordable offerings and snaking queues, is now welcoming customers at the space formerly occupied by Decathlon, an irony that is lost on this foodie.
While not the largest location by far, Casa Vostra’s new Tampines restaurant offers homely vibes with modern aesthetics. Plush booths offer small groups an intimate setting, while counter seats grant you front row seats to the oven action.
Regulars of Casa Vostra at their OG Raffles City branch can look forward to new outlet exclusives here. The Frittatina Alla Scamorza ($11++) is a moreish antipasti comprising savoury smoked cheese and potato encased in a crisp exterior, complemented perfectly by a touch of honey. Best eaten hot for that maximum cheesiness.

Those seeking more complex flavours will appreciate the Proscuitto e Nduja ($24++), another outlet exclusive. This pizza is a visual and taste treat, with a medley of prosciutto cotto, smoked provola, Calabrian chilli sausage, pickled onions, housemade mayo, and fried sage.
The savoury elements are elevated by the punchiness of the pickled onions, and the chilli sausage spices things up with just the right amount of heat. I also liked how the herby notes from the fried sage tied everything together.
While the crust is on the soft side, I did enjoy this pizza like a comfort meal.

A returning favourite is the Carbonara Rigatoni ($19++), made from scratch using Italian semolina by Molino Casillo. Highly recommended if you are craving something rich.

Casa Vostra is fast becoming a welcome addition to Tampines, with queues forming consistently at lunch and dinnertime. Look forward to more exclusive collaborations with Italy’s King of Carbonara in end-May.
