[CLOSED] I Want My Noodle @ Shaw Centre

Update 20 Jan 2025: I Want My Noodle has closed.

How much are you willing to pay for a bowl of noodles?

Eateries with artisanal or fusion takes on local cuisine have been popping up all over Singapore, giving an atas twist to humble dishes strongly associated with hurried morning and afternooon meals at our neighbourhood hawker centres. One such place is the aptly named I Want My Noodle, which styles itself as a craft noodle shop with contemporary twists on the ubiquitous Chinese noodle.

[CLOSED] Seasons Bistro @ TripleOne Somerset (Sugar)

Update June 2020: Seasons Bistro has closed.

To mark the first weekend of the year, we headed to town for brunch and a movie – hey, what better time to check out new places and things than now? 😉

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies left me with mixed feelings; I grew up on Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the LOTR trilogy and am a huge fan of epic fantasy films, but somehow the final installation didn’t appeal to me and felt overstretched at times. Though as always, the CGI was amazeballs.

That said, it’s time to move on to the main point of today’s post – our yummy brunch at Seasons Bistro which we decided to reward ourselves with after waking up and early for this 2.5 hour movie!

Sarnies @ Telok Ayer Street (Sugar)

Telok Ayer, with its smattering of heritage sites and converted shophouses, presents itself as a neighbourhood of hidden gems – quiet and unassuming, yet filled with pleasant surprises for those who venture there.

Last weekend, as part of my review for Sugar, I embarked on my own journey into this quaint part of town – right into the fabled grounds of Sarnies. A brother and sister venture from Down Under, the cafe prides itself on its healthy, wholesome offerings alongside a blend of classic coffees and off-the-menu concoctions, so my expectations were high. 😉

Hello Hokkaido! Ishiya Chocolate Factory & Shiroi Koibito Park

When you live in the tropics, there’s not much you can glean off the supposed winter season that graces other continents. You can, however, experience the cold winds of the monsoon season come December – what we fondly refer to as sweater weather. 😉

For me, sweater weather ignites a particular (okay, year-long) craving…for the comforting taste of chocolate! So today’s post is a little throwback to one of my absolute favourite place to visit in Hokkaido, Ishiya Chocolate Factory. 🙂

[MOVED] Kith Cafe @ Park Mall

Update 20 Jan 2025: Kith Cafe has closed at Park Mall. Visit their other outlets.

Tucked away in a relatively quiet part of Dhoby Ghaut at Park Mall, Kith Cafe is one of those places I’ve been hearing rave reviews about, but have always put off paying it a visit. Well last weekend brought a sudden downpour, which made Kith an ideal place to brunch at since it was too troublesome to explore other options in view of the weather.

Chock Full Of Beans @ Changi Village

If you’ve found your Instagram feed flooded with pictures of eye-catching 2D and 3D latte art, you’ve Chock Full of Beans partly to thank for it. Opened a couple of years back, the cafe has recently gained a following for its adorable, edible artistry.

Tucked away in a corner of Changi Village, CFOB presents itself as a rustic haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city on the east side of Singapore. It is a relatively small cafe, with most diners seated in a shady alfresco area littered with wooden furniture and a long high table for larger groups – or if you, like me, like to perch somewhere high up while doing a little reading and writing over a cuppa. 😉

With much of the hype centred around its latte art, I’ll skip that and tell you about Chock Full of Beans’ other beverage selections – which are equally enticing and picture-worthy! 😛
