Hello Hokkaido! Kitakaro Cafe 北果楼 @ Sakaimachi Street, Otaru

Japanese cream puffs. They taste like heaven, cherub’s kisses, and sweet dreams come true. Okay, I may have exaggerated a little, but that’s the feeling I get whenever I bite into one of ‘em pastries: soft, puffy shell with rich cream, fresh custard and I think I just drooled over my keyboard typing that last sentence.

And then, there’s Kitakaro Cafe’s cream puffs.

Signature 8-flavoured Xiao Long Bao @ Paradise Dynasty

With its tender minced meat encased in a flavourful broth and smooth flour skin, it’s no wonder that xiao long bao is fast becoming a fixture in our Chinese palate. There’s little not to love about this bite-sized offering of meat and broth, which is why restaurants and eateries across the country are catching on to this delicious trend faster than you can say, “zai lai yi long!” (translation: bring me another!)

Confessing your ignorance about this dish is about as sacrilegious as, say, telling others that you don’t like to eat chicken rice; it’s just not possible. Thankfully, there are many places you can go to to “right the wrongs” and taste the legend of xiao long bao yourself. 😉

Hello Hokkaido! From Singapore to Sapporo

I’m bubbling with excitement as I write this post, as I’m venturing into yet another topic on this humble blog of mine, and that is one of my pet loves, travel! 😀 Well, what’s life without exploring new things now and then? 😉

5 Questions People Can’t Stop Asking When You Work for an E-Commerce Company

Joining an E-Commerce company that is more or less known among your social circle can be incredibly exciting, and a minor ego boost for someone whose resume is made up of a smattering of club committees and that one internship that was as compatible with your degree as chalk and cheese, i.e. me when I graduated from university.

In light of this post marking my first year in the “working world” as they call it, here are 5 questions I’ve been asked most frequently by my friends, family and acquaintances upon them finding out where I work (with a hint of tongue-in-cheek :P):

The Simpsons™ LEGO® Minifigure Series

I’ve been obsessed with collecting mini figurines for the longest time. You see, while most girls my age were ooh-ing and aah-ing over the latest Barbie Doll (with curls, curves and all), I spent much of my childhood going after the most minute details in my Hot Wheels and plastic action figures. I was a real tomboy back then and proud of it. 😀 Oh, and did I mention that my favourite TV show of all time was none other than The Simpsons? 😛

So when LEGO announced that they were releasing a new line of mini figurines in conjunction with TV’s longest running animated sitcom, I was undeniably excited. It wasn’t before long before I got my hands on all 16 characters with nothing but sheer feeling of them blind bags (and a little bit of cheating in between):
