There’s something about Mexican cuisine that leaves you feeling incredibly full just at the thought of it – big flavours, vibrant colours, and even bigger portions that do not stinge on the goodies.
You may be surprised to know that Guzman y Gomez is not, unlike what its advertising collateral suggests, a Mexican food concept helmed by two genial looking gentlemen by the names of Guzman and Gomez. In fact, the brand originated in Australia, and currently has overseas outlets in Singapore and Japan. Still, Guzman y Gomez has grown to become the go-to place to satisfy our cravings for Mexican food, with its largest outlet located at Star Vista.
Aside from a semi open kitchen concept indoors, Guzman y Gomez’s Buona Vista outlet boasts an extensive alfresco area, no doubt popular with diners. Pro tip: grab a table in the alfresco area and enjoy the fresh afternoon breeze.
A must have at Guzman y Gomez would be the Tacos ($8.50 for 2, $11.50 for 3). Served in a soft or hard corn tortilla with a sprinkling of salsa and Jack cheese, these tacos are sure to disappear within a few bites. Don’t forget to squeeze some lime or that extra shot of zest!
Burritos ($10.90 for regular, $7.90 for mini) are the main highlight, and at Guzman y Gomez, you can enjoy it i many forms from Enchiladas ($14.90) to Burrito Bowls ($10.90). All items at Guzman y Gomez come with a choice of filling that includes:
- Grilled Chicken
- Spicy Grilled Chicken
- Spicy Grilled Steak (+$1)
- Slow Roasted Beef (+$1)
- Spicy Slow Roasted Pork
- Pan Seared Barramundi
- Sautéed Vegetables with Guacamole
Aside from additional toppings like Guacamole, Sour Cream, and Brown Rice, you can also make your own salsa at the free flow salsa station!
Personally, my favourite Burrito rendition would be the Burrito Bowl, with the meat, black beans, salsa, and Jack cheese arranged enticingly atop the rice. Plus points for the savoury, crunchy nachos! The Enchiladas is a great choice if you’re looking for something spicier, with the added bonus of free Guacamole.
The Churros with Chocolate Dipping Sauce ($3.95) are the only dessert on the menu, but it’s a pretty substantial option and a great way to end your Mexican meal on a sweet note!
With numerous outlets scattered across Singapore, it’s not hard to find a Guzman y Gomez nearby to get your Mexican fix. Thanks for having us over for our own feast!
