Ever wanted to indulge your boba tea cravings, but felt that slightest twinge of guilt at busting your weekly quota for your sugar intake? Well, you can slurp up your favourite beverages with less guilt at JLD Dragon 吉龙糖, the newest Taiwanese bubble tea chain to launch in Singapore.

With two outlets already opened at Waterway Point in Punggol and The Star Vista in Buona Vista, and a third one set to launch at Centrepoint Orchard in April 2020, JLD Dragon 吉龙糖 is set to take on Singapore’s burgeoning bubble tea scene. Named after the Chinese auspicious dragon symbol, JLD Dragon 吉龙糖 claims to be the only bubble tea player that uses 1646 Traditional Okinawa Brown Sugar, also known as kokuto, in their recipes.

An age-old recipe from Okinawa that involves slowly cooking down pure sugarcane juice, kokuto is touted as the world’s healthiest sugar, being an all-natural ingredient that contains high levels of calcium, iron, and Vitamin B.

On the menu are the Milk Series, Alishan Tea Milk Foam Series, Yakult Tea, and the classic Tea and Latte Series. Drinks like the Brown Sugar Milk with Tapioca Boba ($5.30 for cold, $5.90 for hot) and Brown Sugar Milk with Tapioca Boba and Cream ($5.30 – $5.90) are made with a precise “golden ratio” for an optimal mix of elements and flavours.
