I’m a sucker for wraps, and that’s why Souperstar is a huuuuge draw for me. While many salad shops fall into the trap of using stale, hard wraps which makes it hard to bite into, Souperstar avoids this by using paper-thin popiah skin. Porous enough to make it less taxing on the teeth, yet sturdy enough that you don’t find ingredients spilling out (another pet peeve of wrap connoisseurs like yours truly).
The Sesame Chicken Popiah ($5.10) is a fuss-free wrap that fills you up without burning a hole in your wallet – another plus for budget conscious diners! Packed with succulent, tender chicken meat and fresh vegetables, plus extra crunch from bits of chicken skin packed in between. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something simple, and not too heavy.
Sesame Chicken Popiah ($5.10)
True to its name, Souperstar serves up a variety of soups, including Souper Shroomy, Classic French Onion, and Boston Clam Chowder. While packed with flavour, I do find them a tad watery. The salads present better bang for buck, if you’re looking for something to substantiate your popiah.
The Japanese Seafood Salad ($10.90) presents a medley of flavours from the sea, from tender, fresh prawns, to generous chunks of tuna and crab stick. Its vibrant colours are sure to perk you up, too! Who says salads need to be sad?
