Foodies on the east side of Singapore can get a taste of Jimmy Monkey Cafe, at its third outpost at Park Place Residence at PLQ. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Paya Lebar Quarter’s retail center, this entirely al fresco cafe overlooks the charming, more aged part of the neighbourhood, including City Plaza.
No monkeys around this cafe, although you may find the occasional tot hanging around the nearby outdoor playground once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Seating space at the generous and if you’re keen to fix your eyes on some relaxing greenery, look no further than the high table seating which faces outwards.
The menu at Jimmy Monkey Cafe is pretty simple, with all-day breakfast available from 8am – 5.30pm, and dinner served from 6pm – 9pm.
The Matcha Latte ($5++) is pretty decent – a little on the sweet side, but pretty palatable nonetheless.

For brunch, you can’t go wrong with the ever classic pairing of Eggs & Toast ($10++). The chewy, toasted sourdough pairs well with the fruity preserves spread, but you can also choose Vegemite, Nutella, or peanut butter. For eggs, my choice of scrambled was served piping hot, with steam continuing to rise well after it hit my table.
For $3 – $6, you can top up your brunch item with other mouthwatering selections like Aussie Avocado ($4++) and Pork Sausage ($5++). It is quite pricey for its portion though.

Price aside, service is pretty impeccable at Jimmy Monkey Cafe, with staff regularly coming over to refill your water and take additional orders, so that’s a plus for me!
