The neighbourhood around Keong Saik Road is well-known for its scattering of upscale watering holes and evening nosh, and Takeshi Noodle Bar is one of those up-and-coming joints that ticks the boxes of a social space and fusion fare.
You’d be forgiven if you mistook Takeshi Noodle Bar for, well, a literal bar. The quaint eatery is situated on the first level of Hotel Soloha, a boutique hotel housed in a former shophouse. Everything about the decor screams chic and luxe, with a touch of coziness with much of the seating area packed closely together.
Expect to find a selection of modern-style ramen and pasta with well-coiffed toppings, typical of all Tipsy Collective ventures.
The Australian Wagyu Beef with Truffle Iberico Tonkotsu ($23.90++) is a toothsome bowl of ramen with robust flavours. The broth is boldly flavoured by the generous use of garlic chips and truffle iberico, whose aroma wafts ever so enticingly from the bowl. And the Australian wagyu beef melts in your mouth! I could certainly do with more slices of the wagyu beef, but price-wise, it’s pretty reasonable for the number of ingredients. Curiously, the bamboo shoot slices give off a distinct pickled aftertaste.

East and West come together in a truly decadent way with the Truffle Mentaiko Linguine ($20.90++). Don’t be fooled by the seemingly small dish, as it is loaded with a substantial amount of linguine. The aburi salmon also yields a delightful melt-in-your-mouth texture, while the onsen egg adds to the overall creaminess and richness of the pasta. I would probably opt for a longer cook time for the pasta and a more balanced toppings to pasta ratio.

Rich and bold flavours are the name of the game at Takeshi Noodle Bar, and this is one place that doesn’t shy away from carbs. If you’re looking for comforting nosh with an upscale, fusion twist to go with your drinks, this is the place for you!
