Mylo’s @ Gardens by the Bay, Bayfront – Pet-Friendly Glasshouse Cafe with 23 Homemade Gelato Flavours (Media)

There’s nothing quite like discovering new hangout spots in your home turf. Mylo’s recently took over the space formerly occupied by Fennel Cafe, serving homemade gelatos, baked goods, and even dog treats for your four-legged friends. Located at Gardens by the Bay’s Active Garden, the gorgeous glasshouse cafe is the perfect spot to catch your breath – and maybe some tempting desserts.

With floor-to-ceiling windows and gorgeous garden and waterfront views to boot, one can easily lose track of time while people-watching from air-conditioned comfort. The space is brightly lit at all times, and its bright, tropical-themed decor gives it a laid-back vibe reminiscent of cafes in Bali.

Gelato lovers will feel right at home here, with 24 housemade flavours available for the taking. On top of classic flavours like Valrhona Chocolate (made with 66% Valrhona chocolate) and Tirasmisu, adventurous palates will no doubt take delight in quirkier creations like Smoked Bacon Maple (made with applewood-smoked bacon infused with milk and maple syrup). If you’re lucky, you can even snag yourself a fresh scoop of gelato from Mylo’s in-house machine.

All Gelatos ($5 for single scoop, $8 for double scoop) are made from real, in-house ingredients (we even spotted a fresh pot of lavender tea being brewed for a new flavour), with no efforts spared to churn a perfect pint. The Vanilla Gelato is exceptionally intense and milky, with a creamy finish that would almost fool you into thinking you had just sampled it at an actual farm.

Other noteworthy flavours include Apple Pie, Coconut and Pandan, and Jasmine Oolong and Passionfruit. If the gelato flavours were colours, I would almost describe Mylo’s creations as veering close to 90% saturation. It’s almost as though you were eating the actually foods in gelato form!

Add $2 for a crunchy Homemade Waffle, or go all-in with a Gelato Sandwich with Grilled Brioche Bun ($9). Pro tip: the latter pairs best with Apple Pie gelato

The Affogato’s ($10) is a testament that simple, good flavours are often just what it takes to make a winning dessert. Here, you can top your Vanilla and Himalayan Pink Salt Gelato with espresso, seasonal homemade fruit compote, or honey, olive oil and fennel pollen. Sounds over the top? Perhaps. But the combination of sweet, savoury, and rich hit the home run for us.

Aside from gelatos, you can also indulge in an array of gorgeous desserts, like the Lemon Meringue ($11). The sweet and rich meringue certainly pairs well with the punchy, citrusy lemon curd.

Mylo’s is a perfect spot for dog owners seeking some respite from their walk along Gardens by the Bay. I can see myself working here for an afternoon or two!
