It’s difficult to find French food that is both affordable and palatable, especially in the pricier downtown areas. Yet somehow, Saveur at The Cathay has managed to nail these two qualities in its menu throughout the years.
With Chinese New Year just around the corner, traditional dishes like yusheng are sure to abound. For those who crave a change, or simply have a sweet tooth, Nectar, a yoghurt dessert bar by the team who brought you Milk & Honey, have whipped up the perfect dessert for the occasion – the 旺旺 “Yo-sheng”($38.80)!
With Chinese New Year a month away, gathering the family together can be a feat, especially with conflicting schedules among relatives. So, why not lessen the headache of preparing a feast for the fam, by heading down to Amara Singapore’s Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner?
Happening on 15 February, at 6pm, the lunar new year bonanza features an 8-course spread for revellers to choose from, as well as yusheng arranged in the shape of the Dog, in commemoration of this year’s zodiac animal.

PORTA Fine Food & Company – home of the Singapore River Signature Prawn and Chorizo Pasta – invites festive diners to indulge in their Festive Menu come mid December (details at the bottom of this post!).
For starters, titillate your taste buds with a Charcuterie Platter ($30++) – a homely combination of homemade duck rillette, foie gras terrine, chorizo, Bayonne Ham and saucisson.
Visitors to the historic CHIJMES would have noticed a new addition in the vicinity – a compact glass container tucked away from the array of restaurants and bars.
The Glasshouse – not to be confused with the Fish and Co. outlet which closed last year – prides itself on serving specialty coffee and artisanal sourdough toasts. With light spilling in every corner, and the therapeutic aroma of coffee wafting through every now and then as a new cuppa was being brewed, it’s not hard to see why this cafe is on its way to becoming one of the must visit spots in town.
Lovers of fried chicken and Southern cuisine rejoice, for the James Beard nominated and award-winning Yardbird Southern Table & Bar is now open at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands as The Bird Southern Table & Bar.
Founded by Chef John Kunkel, The Bird is 50 Eggs’ first international venture, with Yardbird’s first two branches located in Miami and Las Vegas.
Singapore’s only pop-up urban beach, the DBS Marina Regatta, will be back at the Marina Promontory from 1 to 4 June.
Spanning 21 000 square feet – or 1.5 Olympic pools – with 151 tonnes of sand, this year’s pop-up urban beach is set to be twice as big as last year’s. With up to 2 000 pax capacity, there’s little doubt that this waterfront extravaganza is gonna be huge.
