After making their mark on the hipster food festival scene with their fresh lala and made-to-order seafood dishes, WAWA Seafood has finally settled on a permanent outpost at Stars of Kovan in the north-east of Singapore. Occupying a compact unit below the condominium of the same name, the team strive to churn out mouthwatering, value-for-money dishes with the same freshness and taste.
Anyone remembers buying the Blue Coral flavour from the very first generation of bubble tea shops in our childhood? Well, here to bring you on a nostalgia trip is Whale Tea 琉璃鯨, a Nanjing-based bubble tea chain with over 500 outlets in its native China.

While Thai cuisine is commonly associated with tom yum, green curry, and other fiery dishes, few in Singapore would be able to make the connection between Thai and Chinese cuisine – specifically, Teochew cuisine. In fact, the culinary scene in Samphanthawong District’s Chinatown bears heavy influences from migrant Teochew merchants who were once called Royal Chinese จนี หลวง.
Since its opening in 2016, Soi Thai Soi Nice has blazed a trail for authentic and scrumptious Thai cuisine in Singapore’s food scene. Starting this month, both outlets in Jurong East and Sengkang will draw on the rich flavours and heritage of Bangkok’s Teochew settlers of old, to let diners savour this lesser known side of Thai cuisine.

Non Entrée Desserts needs no introduction. Located at the end of Rangoon Road, the dessert specialty cafe has made waves for its quirky desserts modelled after traditional local delicacies and hawker fare.

Wild Blooms, the latest addition at The Midtown in Hougang, is best described as an Instagrammer’s dream gone wild. Featuring an explosion of floral decor from top to bottom, this cozily sized cafe screams feminine from the moment you step in.
From the array of dehydrated bouquets hanging from the ceiling at the ground level, to the larger-than-life, handmade wall mural, there’s nary a spot that cannot serve as a beautiful backdrop for your OOTD (outfit of the day) photos.

You’ve got to hand it to VivoCity’s Food Republic for replicating the food streets of old in their decor. Thankfully, Fu Xiang Signatures proves it’s not only style, but also substance with their signature heritage curry dishes, recipes which the current owners inherited from the stall’s first generation of owners.

These days, it’s hard to find a cafe that truly stands out from the dozens of generic looking joints that pop up with forgettable or worse, mediocre dishes. Yet Amber Ember has somehow found its way against the norm, with an interesting menu of Asian inspired brunch items that tantalise both the eyes and the tastebuds.
