It’s been a few years since I first reviewed Kittea, so I was delighted to find out that they had collaborated with a fellow homegrown brand, The Woody Baker, to create a pair of tea-infused madeleines for your teatime enjoyment.
Helmed by an “engineer who bakes”, The Woody Baker takes two of Kittea’s popular flavours – British Shorthair Earl Grey Blue and Li Hua Mao Seven Secrets ($8) – and turns them into fluffy, flavourful madeleines that emit the most inviting aroma the moment you open the box they’re packaged in.
A five-piece Madeleine Set will set you back $10.50, or you can top up $4 for 4 Madeleines and a tin of either Kittea tea flavour. Seeing how each tin of loose tea leaves sells for $8 on Kittea’s store, it’s a pretty good steal!

The Woody Baker’s Madeleines ($10.50 for Madeleines, $14.50 for Tea Time Set)
The British Short Hair Tea Madeleine yields a delightful, homely taste when you bite into it. Almost as if you are sipping on a cup of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea. I love how fragrant the Madeleine is, with the flavours perfectly balanced.

The British Shorthair Earl Grey Blue Tea Tin ($8)
If the British Shorthair Madeleine is a homely treat, then the Li Hua Mao Madeleine is a showier dessert that boasts perfume-y, floral notes that are elevated by the lemon glaze. Overall, a refreshing teatime treat for those seeking something more tart for their palate.
