Renowned Chinese hotpot restaurant, Li Ji Chuan Chuan Xiang 李记串串香 has launched its second outlet in Jalan Besar. Originally from China, the restaurant is one of the few places to serve Chinese skewer hotpot in Singapore. 

Similar to most hotpot restaurants, Li Ji Chuan Chuan Xiang has various Soup Bases available, including Chicken, Tomato, Mala, and Green Pepper Chilli Mala. Both mala flavours are mouthwateringly spicy, with a notable numbness that follows every bite. While the Chicken soup base is comforting and ideal for colder nights. Diehard fans of Tomato soup bases will appreciate its intense flavours. 

A wide variety of scrumptious Skewers ($0.50 per stick) is available for the taking at Li Ji Chuan Chuang Xiang. Choose from skewers like Spicy Beef, Special Recipe Chicken, Chongqing Bacon, Pork with Coriander, and Black Fungus.

Overall, I found the marinated meat skewers to be especially flavourful and tender! Every bite of it melts in your mouth. Personally, I enjoyed them the best when dipped in the Green Pepper Chilli Mala. 

Diners who are still into the “typical” style of eating hotpot, ie dipping individual pieces using their chopsticks, can opt for Li Ji Chuan Chuan Xiang’s Plates ($4 – $10). Selections include Signature Beef Slides, Pork Belly, Black Belly, and Yellow Larynx Fillet. Whole Lobsters are also available for $45. 

Feeling peckish while waiting for your hotpot? Whet your appetites with some delectable snacks! The Deep Fried Crispy Pork ($8) is especially sinful with its crisp layers of meat, fat, and fried skin. 

Fans of Northern Chinese cuisine would feel right at home here. The flavours are pretty close to the robust, gamey dishes one would find in these locales. With opening hours lasting till midnight, you can turn to Li Ji Chuan Chuan Xiang for a late-night bite!
