C-Side Sentosa @ Siloso Beach Walk (Sugar Rush)

If there’s one thing we can thank Singapore’s weather for, it’s the tropical cheeriness that lasts all year long. And at C-Side Sentosa, summer never ends!

Comprised of five F&B and beach bar outlets, C-Side served as the venue for our second SUGAR RUSH, as well as a new quarterly event called 3BS (more on that later). Having passed the area frequently during my university’s beach orientation games, I jumped at the chance to try their range of bar bites, cocktails and beers.

Coastes

With a laid back vibe and sun beds and deck chairs scattered across Siloso beach, Coastes could easily pass off as one of Bali’s beach bars.  The cheery music, energetic staff and quirky decor quickly transported us from bustling Singapore to our dream beach destination.

To help ease the lunch and dinnertime crunch, Coastes also released an Apple app that lets you access their menu and make your order.

We couldn’t get enough of the Seafood Platter – the grilled tiger prawns, deep fried scallops and calamari rings were simply too delectable and we snapped them up in minutes. You could tell that the team at Coastes had put their heart into sourcing the best ingredients, too, as we could also taste the freshness in the chilled crayfish, marinated mussels, and chilli clams.

Loved the different sauces that went with each component, too. The fish stew also yielded a spicy kick that was distinct yet not overpowering.

Paired with the tastiest, most flavourful garlic bread I’ve ever tasted, we satisfied our hunger pangs and were ready to move on to the next place on the list:

Bikini Bar

Touted as Singapore’s first and only Bintang bar, Bikini Bar offers panoramic views of the horizon, ships and all. I can just picture chilling with a beer in hand and soaking in the atmosphere during the golden hour. Absolutely picture worthy. 😀

Bintang beers were a refreshing thirst quencher after all that seafood, and we enjoyed ourselves chatting and taking selfies while the sun set.

An innovative way to re-purpose old beer bottles – using them as bar decor. Hey, it’s a great way to market your signature product, too!

Chatted with Billy, the Chief Operating Officer at C-Side; one could feel his tenacity and dedication to making his venture grow. I think it’s no secret that the F&B business is a difficult one, and the way he manages to look out for his staff, on top of answering to each and every review (his go-to platform is TripAdvisor!) and innovating was very inspiring. 😀

Sand Bar

Our last stop for the night was Sand Bar where 3BS was in full swing, with local band Indigo playing Brazilian-style music from the 60s and 70s.

A lot of beach-goers might think that Sand Bar’s decor is just a series of fancy, twisted bamboo structures, BUT! They’re actually handcrafted by renowned Indonesian artist, Joko Dwi Avianto, after the legend of The Seven Dancing Princesses of Riau Island, which itself gave rise to Olang-Olang, a popular Malayan dance. Just FYI. 😉

In line with the 3Bs – beer, band and BBQ, we had a couple of Sand Bar’s signatures – Signature Flat Iron Steak and Flame Platter, otherwise known as every carnivore’s dream come true. 😛

Like Coastes’ Seafood Platter, both packed a medley of hearty meats and carbs. Paired with refreshing Desperado beer and fruity Mojitos, you could say that we ended the night with a bang. 😉

Didn’t get to try the steak, which was a hit with everyone at the table, but the Flame Platter was enjoyable too. The mini burgers I found a tad dry and tough, but the oven wedges and sausages hit. The. Spot.

I can see why C-Side enjoys a healthy crowd despite the likes of Insadong Korea Town and Resort World Sentosa being all the rage now; it’s casual and fun, yet it takes the art of keeping revellers happy quite seriously, if the yummy grub and service were anything to go by.

The next time you’re in Sentosa, hit up Coastes, Bikini Bar or Sand Bar like we did; you won’t regret it!
