Right before Phase 2 Heightened Alert kicked in in Singapore, I was able to squeeze in one last cafe visit at one of The Forage Cafe’s outlets in Pari Burong, near Simpang Bedok.

Taking over from now-defunct D’zerts Cafe, this bustling spot prides itself on its honey-themed menu, with cafe and brunch fare sweetened by a shot of honey. You can even shop from 13 Honey’s range from the cafe’s retail corner.

Healthy living and plant-based eating have never been more on trend, especially with health and wellness related concerns surging in the past year. But healthy doesn’t have to mean boring!
Take Porcelain Cafe for example. The plant-based venture founded in collaboration by superfood retailer Gratefood Co and cult-premium skincare brand Porcelain Origins has made its name in churning out whimsical smoothie bowls that are not only nutritious, but a feast for the eyes as well.

There’s brunch on the weekend, and then there’s brunch on the weekend, if you catch my drift. Moroccan cafe Bacha Coffee set up shop in the heart of Singapore’s shopping district, in ION Orchard, and the experience is nothing short of o-p-u-l-e-n-t.

There’s something oddly quirky about recipes that shrink larger foods to bite-sized pieces and turn them into a cereal. Like Misol Bakery, an Indonesian-based bakery that churns out delightful Croissant Cereal ($23) that is both cute and tasty.

It’s been a few years since I first reviewed Kittea, so I was delighted to find out that they had collaborated with a fellow homegrown brand, The Woody Baker, to create a pair of tea-infused madeleines for your teatime enjoyment.

While 2020 saw many longtime favourites succumbing to pandemic-induced stresses, or simply calling it quits at the end of their lease, other places underwent a complete revamp. Stateland Cafe, a 6.5 year old cafe that gained attention for its innovative fusion cafe dishes, has re-emerged in Bali Lane as Brotherbird Coffeehouse.
